A few weeks ago, I posted about Patience Beard, the freshman cheerleader with a prosthetic leg. She’s quite the mini-celebrity on campus! Her position on the squad was no pity-award. She’s an amazing cheerleader!
Well, Patience has just been nominated for the Discover Orange Bowl Courage Award. The award is given to an athlete that has demonstrated “ courage on or off the field, including overcoming an injury or physical handicap, preventing a disaster or living through hardship.”
If she wins, Patience will be the first from the University of Arkansas to do so. Good for her!
